In the Third Sector Awards 2015, the Hear My Voice campaign won the award for digital innovation.

In the lead-up to this year's general election in the UK, Mencap wanted people with earning disabilities to have the chance to be properly involved.

We developed a campaign website with Mencap to allow users to post personal stories about living with learning difficulties to their election candididates. And candidates could also post messages on the site in response.

A huge success

The campaign surpassed all Mencap's targets. Hoping for 100 personal stories, they ended up with over 1000. And over 800 candidates pledged to represent the views of people with learning difficulties too.

One of the judges commented that "This is an excellent way of using digital technology for social issues."

What did more onion do?

We helped Mencap develop the digital strategy for the campaign, including the supporter journey. Then we built campaign action pages in Engaging Networks, before building a microsite that linked directly to Engaging Networks - allowing users to write their personal stories and candidates to respond publicly.

Congratulations to Mencap on a hugely successful campaign!
